CALL FOR PAPERS
Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI/GIDB) and African Development Bank, in collaboration with Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin and Department of Islamic Law, University of Ilorin, Nigeria, will jointly organize a thematic workshop entitled “Development of Islamic Banking in Africa” to be held in Ilorin on 6th – 8th January, 2015.
This workshop aims at bringing together experts in Islamic Banking, Regulation, and Financial Economics in order to take stock of current academic research, policies, practice and development of Islamic Banking in Africa.
Contributions exploring current issues in Islamic Banking and Financial Products with a focus on the experiences of particular African countries with respect to regulation, supervision, systemic risk measures, stress testing, counterparty risk, opportunities and challenges are encouraged.
The selection committee will give priority to well-researched contributions by academics, regulators and practitioners of Islamic Banking and Finance from different African countries and from those who show considerable familiarity with the development of Islamic Banking in Africa.
Submission of Paper: November 20, 2014,
Final Decision on Papers: December 5, 2014.
Workshop: January 6 – 8, 2015.
TICKETS AND HOTEL:
Authors of the accepted papers will be covered for round-trip economy class air ticket and hotel accommodation during the Workshop.
This roundtable discussion is intended as a meeting of minds among thinkers, scholars and practitioners (maximum 40 persons). Selected papers presented at the discussion will be reviewed for publication in a textbook to be published by IRTI/AfDB
