For most of the programmes in the College of Natural Sciences, students will be involved in Attachment Programmes in industries as an integral part of their academic work in the University.  This is usually referred to as the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).  The arrangement of SIWES is such that students at appropriate levels in their programmes, shall spend a minimum of 6 months in industry.  These industrial attachments are assigned industrial units (treated also as academic units) varying from 6 units to 12 units depending on the programme.

One (1) industrial unit is equivalent to 4 weeks of industrial attachment.
