Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between the academic planning functions and goals achievement in Colleges of Education in Kwara State. The study examined the level of academic planning functions and the level of goals achievement in Colleges of Education in Kwara State. Five out of the eight existing Colleges of Education in Kwara State were selected using random sampling technique. A sample size of 421 respondents was selected out of the 1,668 target population using research advisors (2006). The instrument used for the study was Academic Planning Functions Questionnaire (APFQ) and Goals Achievement Questionnaire (GAQ). Descriptive statistics of means and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions raised while Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The major finding of the study revealed and concluded that there was a significant relationship between academic planning functions and goals achievement in Colleges of Education in Kwara State (β= 0.557, t=15.307 p<0.001).It was therefore, recommended among others that the APU in colleges of education in Kwara State should improve on their internal quality assurance measure on provision of more lecture rooms to accommodate the crowded students’ population to ensure compliance with the NCCE benchmark on lecturer/students ratio.
